in spite of overwhelming proof that the Republicans stole the 2004 election in Ohio, most who refer to this election are locked in to the Republican line: "Ohio gave George W Bush the 2004 election" When are the americans, as a community of patriots, going to take these bastards on? For it appears that they are still very much in a position to do exactly the same thing they did in 2004. Those who live in "battleground" states should be cognizant of the fact that this is where they will do their dastardly acts, for in wide-open races favoring McCain, they would not take a chance. I suggest we make it very clear to those who are still ignorant of these facts that they do some research. I 'm certain that they will never use the Republican line again. but then again regardless of whats happening in ohio, there are alot of question marks on the democratic party this year, especially obama. for instance, he voted to re-authorize the Patriot Act, grant sweeping wiretapping powers to the government and give immunity to illegal wiretappers. That he opposes single-payer health care. That he voted to give away $700 billion to the crooks who looted the US economy. Woohoo! "Change" I can believe in: same shit, different party.
its a dilema !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and people re confused and dont know who to TRUST !!!!

Voter Fraud
Is there any chance of voter fraud in this election? Of course there is. Growing up in East Chicago, I've seen voter fraud first-hand. I remember one instance where the committee for the incumbent for mayor's office was providing brand new sidewalks and driveways for votes. This tactic aside, people always hear of the deceased managing to cast their vote on election day. Is it at all possible for the United States, or any other country, to have a completely non-fraudulent election? I am, however, very optimistic that this election will have minimal voter fraud and hopefully we won't have another recount nightmare like the one that occurred in 2000.
would the vp and the presedential debate have an effect on peoples opinions in todays election
For the Presidential Debate, I personally thought that McCain did a better job than Obama. I felt as though McCain's answers were more thorough and connected with the people more, while Obama seemed to be having a bit more trouble. Then again, I'm sure there are people who will say it the other way around.Another thing was that Obama would often look at McCain while answering questions, while McCain focused more on the people and the moderator. I actually thought that this was a good thing for McCain to do because it's not Obama that he wants to win over, he wants to win over the people, hence him putting all his energy towards them. As far as the Vice Presidential Debate, both Palin and Biden would dodge off answers and go off topic for a lot of questions. The moderator several times had to say to both of them "you didn't answer the question, would you like to answer it?" ... now my question is how much will these debates play a role in peoples voting , would it even have any effect ?!! since its been a while for the debates ..
Either way, I'm not happy with this election, but that put aside, I'm sure ANYONE who wins will do a better job to get us out of this economic crisis among other things that Bush has gotten us into.

Importance of analyzing advertising ads
Political advertising has been called "the primary mode of public address." From corporations to nonprofits to presidents, it is the first method used to mass distribute messages or change the balance of power. the presidential campagin has been sold on media images that television has created. And while candidates still canvass the country shaking hands and speaking at rallies, most people cast their votes on how they see candidate from their own living rooms on television. Also by interpreting thesecommecials we are enhancing our media literacy, another importance, camera-person's choices in shooting a commercial can change the meaning. For example, a wide shot of a candidate with thousands of people lends a grander feeling and plays to the "bandwagon" appeal: everyone is supporting this candidate. A medium shot might convey a greater sense of intimacy with the viewer and perhaps an image of sincerity or trust.
when analyzing these presidential ads it it importan to answer these Questions:
Content: ex- what is the main point of idea of the ad?
Audio: ex- Does the ad use music, voice, voice-over, or sound effects?
Camera Work: ex- Does the ad make use of depth of field or sharp or soft focus?
These kind of questions and other more help us anayze and understand the ad thats been advertised on tv or on the web.

campaign ads
The type of Ads turn me off on both of the candidates all I want to hear is about the issue nothing more, it is sad the are the two best people this country has to offer for President. this country is going down and neither one of them has said for sure what they will do to turn it around, they say we shouldn't bail out the bank or loan companies but have no good idea on what to do. I am looking for more in a President and can not seem to fine it,
I do not care what the color of the person that is to be President is, what matter if they can do the job and help the people and this country. Race has become to much apart of this election on both sides and I do not believe you vote for someone just because he is of your party or because he is black, you vote for the person who will do the best job and will not lie to you.
Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain are criticizing each other in new television ads, trying to drive down public opinion of one another with the 22 days left in the election.
one example of the ads is http://pcl.stanford.edu/campaigns/2008/
where Mccain attack spot obama, he portrays Obama as a product of corrupt Chicago machine politics.

Interpersonal communication between candidates and voters
Interpersonal communication is the way candidates connect with voters on an emotional, human level. Face-to-face, one-on-one contact initiates a cascade of barely perceptible and even unconscious nonverbal cues, which contain a rich lode of information that influences perceptions.
For quite some time now, I've been noticing some serious gaps in Barack Obama's communication skills. It didn't seem possible just a few short months ago, but it's started to look like Obama has a "tin ear" when it comes to interpersonal communication. It's the little things that have been bringing him down: the flubbed diner and small-town shop visits, snapping at reporters while on vacation or eating breakfast, the lame attempts at flattery and flirtations with humble voters that Obama confuses with small talk. The everyday patter that is the heart of a campaign as well as of life makes him ill at ease and unable to be spontaneous. Worse, he seems to be unaware of how this skills deficit impacts him and his campaign.
when Hilary was running for president i really like how she communcated and interacted with the people. She cames across as warm and generous, seeming always to have time for another hug or photo or to listen to another story.

Remarks By John McCain At Ohio Rally
during this time of the presedential campaign it is very important to gain peoples attention, especially bc we are getting close to the elections, ever speech the candidates say is very important to get the people vote. when McCain speaks in the speech of the Ohio Rally, he remidns the people how he put his campaign on hold to help solve the economic crises, by mentioning that he reminds and also gain the peoples attention of his intentions, and how trying to rescue americas economy is more important than the campaign, he says: "Some people have criticized my decision, but I will never, ever be a president who sits on the sidelines when this country faces a crisis. Some of you may have noticed, but it's not my style to simply "phone it in." he also points out the problem, thats obama's records isnt going to help 95% of the americans, he is not only point this out as a problem , he is also criticisizing the oponents record.

Smear ads turn against candidates
As of late, I have grown sick of the smear ads plastered on television sets around the state. Both Obama and McCain have seemed to stoop to new lows, throwing political punches left and right. This is a clear component of the General Election stage indicated in our book, and serves to educate the public about opponents, but they're seemingly going too far. Where some say that they are merely stating the facts, rather than smearing the other person, I somewhat disagree. There is a line that shouldn't be crossed; one that resides at the percentage of total ads that are dedicated to destroying someone else's credibility. Since being nominated by their respective parties, I have yet to see a political ad that merely discusses the issues. Since when have the deciding issues been on the back-burner? I am thoroughly disgusted with the current nature of our candidates appeal to get voters. Hopefully with about 40 days to go, things don't get much worse... but we all know they will.

addressing the audience
Who are Maccain and Obama Addressing ? Who is the audience ?
now after really studying about the campaigns and analysing the candidates speeches .. it really seems to me that they are not addressing us the public the American people, they are only addressing each other. To me it seems that each campaign feels that it's more important to address each other instead of us voters. When is the last time we have heard anything about the issues until today? When is the last time an ad actually spoke to you as opposed to speaking about the other guy? When are people going to stand up and say this has to stop NOW?
We have two candidates who break out a ruler and measure themselves on a daily basis as opposed to talking about what they plan on doing for the 4 years they are in office. I don't want to hear about innuendo on who slept with who, whose son is better in Iraq or any of that other garbage and neither should you. There are countless threads and postings about the issues yet none of them contain anything about what either one of these candidates plans to do. We talk about this being a forum to vent our frustrations but the frustrations people are talking about are meaningless!! Lipstick, age, black, white, Muslim, drugs etc.... None of that is going to correct the issues going on with this country. I don't care how well Obama speaks. I don't care if people think Palin is a milf and I don't care about Biden or Mccain's age. you should care about your country not being at war, or care about your country being economically prosperous.
I want is a week of the candidates speaking on the issues. Tell me what you think about the economy, Iraq/Afghanistan etc and other issues. PLease stop telling me about Mccain's vote in regards to being able to pass a school bus from 1977 or the fact that Obama has a Muslim sounding middle name or that Palin once said "Sambo" . Please for the sake of this country and its citizens...please address US and not each other. There are a lot more than 4 people voting in November and it's really not very humble of either candidates.
after reading chapter 6, i honestly dont think that these candidates know who the public is, and who their audiences are.
